Tuscany Travel Guide for American Visitors
Simple answers to the transportation questions travelers from the United States most often ask before visiting Tuscany.
What to send when requesting a quote
Include the service date, pickup address, destination, number of passengers and all luggage, including carry-ons. For airport, train or cruise pickups, also send the flight number, train details, cruise line, ship name and scheduled times.
Chauffeur or tour guide?
A professional chauffeur manages your private transportation, route, meeting points and practical timing. A licensed guide provides formal guided visits inside cities, museums and historic sites. If you need one, ask in advance; guide availability and fees are separate.
Luggage and child seats
European vehicle space may differ from what you expect in the United States, so an exact bag count matters. Child seats can be requested in advance; please provide each child’s age and approximate height.
Payments and tipping
Your proposal will confirm the price, payment method and what is included. Tipping in Italy is discretionary rather than mandatory; it is always appreciated when you feel the service was excellent.
Airports and cruises
Plan the important connections first
Book airport and cruise-port transportation early, especially in the busy spring, summer and fall seasons. Allow realistic travel time: routes can be affected by traffic, road conditions, events and the location of countryside accommodations. For a cruise day, always provide the ship’s required all-aboard time, not only its scheduled departure.
For winery visits, museum tickets and licensed guides, advance reservations are strongly recommended and remain subject to availability. Keep your pickup contact reachable on WhatsApp on the day of service.
Payment options
Pay in advance by secure payment link or bank transfer, by prior arrangement, or pay your driver on the day by card or cash in euros. Travel agencies and tour operators can arrange payment on behalf of their clients. Prices and payments are in euros (EUR).
Cancellation policy
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the service. For cancellations within 48 hours, the full booking amount is due. If your cruise ship does not dock at the port where your service is booked, no charge applies.
